Salvador Dalí created the Chupa Chups logo
Enric Bernat was born in 1923 in Barcelona to a family with multiple generations of creating various sweet confections. Spending most of his childhood working in the family cake shop, he founded his own company at age 26 named Productos Bernat. Their specialty was peladillas, a candied almond commonly served on Christmas. There's a good chance you've had one before.
In the early 1950s, when Enric was in his 30s, he moved to northern Spain to try and bring a failing apple jam factory back to life. It must have been in terrible shape because soon after he arrived, he had the idea to switch to making lollipops, and all the investors backed out.
